Varun Dhawan has started filming for Border 2 in Jhansi, Madhya Pradesh. The shoot is taking place in the armed forces cantonment areas of Jhansi, providing a fitting backdrop for the war-based story.
Varun Dhawan Begins Shooting For Border 2
A behind-the-scenes photo from the set has surfaced online, showing Varun Dhawan with producer Bhushan Kumar and co-producer Nidhi Dutta holding the film’s clapboard.
Sharing the photo, T-Series wrote, “Actor Varun Dhawan begins the #Border2 journey in the scenic cantonment areas of Jhansi with Producers Bhushan Kumar, Nidhi Dutta, Co-producer Shiv Chanana and director Anurag Singh leading the way.”

Varun Dhawan recently shared photos with Indian soldiers on Instagram to celebrate the Army Day. In one picture, he is seen posing beside a tank. His caption read, “Honoring the real heroes of India this #ArmyDay. Proud to be with them. #Border2 #prep.”
Filming is ongoing as Border 2 prepares to depict stories of courage and sacrifice on screen.
About The Film
Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 will focus on the 1999 Kargil War. The original 1997 film Border, directed by J.P. Dutta, was based on the Battle of Longewala during the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War.
Apart from Varun, the cast includes Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, and others. Sunny Deol will reprise his role from the original film.
The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta. Border 2 is presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series in association with J.P. Films. It is scheduled for release on January 23, 2026.
