Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2 is Coming With a New Twist
New speculation brings reports that Bollywood may soon have a nostalgic reversal with Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2, and Varun Dhawan and Kartik Aaryan are the lead roles.
The original, a blockbuster in 2004, directed by David Dhawan, showed Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Priyanka Chopra in a comedic love triangle. The new movie, however, will stay on the same topic, now with a Gen-Z plate spin, which will keep the same chaos and laughter the original held.
Sajid Nadiadwala is backing the film, having produced the old movie, and is currently working on scripting. An insider said,
“Sajid wants to recreate the fun the original one had, but with a Gen-z flavour. Kartik and Varun have fantastic comic timing and would be strong contenders for the roles.”
Can two box office rivals be best friends on screens?
Interestingly enough, both actors are already in the news for their Independence Day 2026 clash — Varun’s Bhediya 2 is confirmed for that weekend, and so is Kartik’s Naagzilla.
This possible partnership has brought a fresh new twist to their rivalry. The two will compete against each other during mid-2026 at the box office, but audiences may see them sharing the screen by late 2026, when Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2 will hopefully be released.
However, casting will only happen when they finalise the script.
“Getting their schedules aligned won’t be easy,” went on the source, in reference to coordinating two of Bollywood’s busiest stars together.
Why This Duo Could Be Comedic Gold
Varun Dhawan has previously nailed slapstick and family-orientated comedy in Main Tera Hero and Judwaa 2, while Kartik Aaryan has proven his comedic chops in Pati Patni Aur Woh and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.
If cast together, this pair could provide a high-energy, audience-pleasing entertainer that has all the original’s charm while tapping into today’s youth vibe.
