Varun Sharma is a name synonymous with playing comic relief and supporting roles in films. But within that space, he has slowly made a name for himself. After making his debut in 2013 with Fukrey, which also featured Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha, Sharma went on to do several bid-budget films. This includes the 2015 Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol starter Dilwale. Recently, he unveiled that it was SRK’s 1993 romantic thriller film Baazigar that inspired him to become an actor.

He also recalled dancing to the songs of the Abbas-Mustan directorial venture, calling it “my film” and his go-to film. Sharma said that as a kid he would lisp and often enjoyed reciting the film’s dialogues. He also spent hours dancing to its songs. Around that time, he was studying at a boarding school. On his way to the school, Sharma would recite Baazigar’s dialogues in front of his audience.

Eventually, the film stayed with him and he decided to follow his passion. Life came full circle when he worked with Abbas-Mustan on Kapil Sharma’s Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon. He also shared the screen space with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale. Sharma unveiled that he told all of them how Baazigaar had an impact on him.
His Upcoming Projects
Sharma will be reprising his role of Dilip “Chucha” Singh in Fukrey 3, which is the third installment of the franchise. It will also feature some of the leading names from the series like Pulkit Samrat, Manjot Singh, and Richa Chadha. The film is scheduled to release on December 1. Its earlier release date was September 7 which was pushed further for unknown reasons. He was last seen portraying double roles in Rohit Shetty’s 2022 film Cirkus.
