Yash Raj Films is all set to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its iconic film Veer-Zaara after kicking off its special international re-release. Directed by the legendary Yash Chopra, the 2004 romantic drama has returned to theatres across the globe, with screenings in 600 locations from November 7.
The re-release marks a significant milestone for the film, which also premieres in Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Qatar for the first time.
YRF Plans Global Event In THESE Cities To Celebrate 20th Anniversary Of Veer-Zaara
To celebrate this special occasion, YRF has planned a global event, bringing Veer-Zaara to fans in seven major cities: Toronto, New York City, Melbourne, cities in the UAE, Istanbul, and Singapore.
The aim is to share the film’s nostalgic charm, its unforgettable music, and its poignant love story with audiences who have cherished it for two decades.
Veer-Zaara Re-Release Is Doing Well, Especially In Germany
The film’s overseas re-release follows the successful domestic re-release of the film earlier this year in September. Since its international debut on November 7, Veer-Zaara has already seen a positive reception, particularly in Germany, where it has performed strongly.
The film is now set to earn between USD 300k and 500k globally (approximately Rs 2.50 crore – Rs 4.25 crore), potentially pushing its total lifetime collections to around Rs 108 crore.
The international re-release has also introduced an exciting addition for fans: the song Aa Gaye Hum Kahan, which was not included in the original 2004 release. The romantic drama, which starred Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta, was the highest-grossing film of the year when it first hit cinemas. It also featured Rani Mukerji, Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Anupam Kher, and several other acclaimed actors.
About The Film
In Veer-Zaara, Shah Rukh Khan portrayed Veer Pratap Singh, an Indian Air Force officer, while Preity Zinta played Zaara Hayaat Khan, a Pakistani girl. Rani Mukerji’s character, Saamiya Siddiqui, is a Pakistani lawyer who plays a crucial role in the story’s emotional journey.
Directed by the late Yash Chopra, the film garnered around Rs 98 crore worldwide during its original run, with Rs 61 crore coming from India and Rs 37 crore internationally. Including additional re-releases over the years, the film’s total worldwide gross now stands at Rs 104 crore.
