Vicky Kaushal is gearing up for his next big role in the historical period drama Chhaava, where he will portray the legendary Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
Fans are already buzzing with excitement about the film, and recent reports suggest it could hit theatres in mid-February 2025, perfectly timed to align with Shivaji Jayanti, on February 19.
The makers of Chhaava are aiming for a release date between February 14 and 21, which would coincide with Shivaji Jayanti.
Here’s Why Shivaji Jayanti 2025 Is Perfect Time For Film’s Arrival
The timing is being seen as a strategic move to ensure cultural resonance, making the film’s arrival even more meaningful. This also positions the movie to celebrate the life and legacy of the Maratha ruler during an important period in Indian history.
Initially, Chhaava was scheduled for a December 2024 release. However, the film’s release date was moved to avoid a clash with the highly anticipated Pushpa 2, starring Allu Arjun, which is set to release on December 5.
With that clash averted, the film is now expected to arrive in February 2025, and it seems like the perfect opportunity to celebrate the heroism of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj with a fitting release.
Will Chhaava End Up Clashing With Shahid Kapoor’s Deva?
Releasing on February 14 could also lead to a significant clash with other major films, including Shahid Kapoor’s Deva and Aanand L Rai’s Nakhrewaalii.
Both films are expected to generate buzz, which could affect Chhaava’s box office performance if it releases on that date.
With that potential clash in mind, the film’s makers may opt for a slightly later release. But that too seems difficult. If the makers avoid the dates between 14-19 and prefer February 21, it will pit Chhaava against Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2.
About Chhaava
In addition to Vicky Kaushal, the film will feature Rashmika Mandanna in the role of Yesubai Bhonsale, the wife of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. The ensemble cast also includes seasoned actors like Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, and Divya Dutta, all of whom will play crucial roles in the film.
Directed by Laxman Utekar, who previously collaborated with Vicky on Zara Bachke Zara Hatke, Chhaava will feature music composed by the legendary AR Rahman. Backed by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, this period drama marks the first-ever collaboration between Vicky and Rashmika, adding to the film’s anticipation.
