The Madhya Pradesh government has officially declared The Sabarmati Report tax-free, making it more accessible to audiences across the state.
This announcement, made by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday, has sparked considerable attention. Yadav also shared that he plans to watch the film himself, encouraging ministers, MLAs, and MPs to do the same.
Directed by Dheeraj Sarna, The Sabarmati Report is a gripping film based on the tragic 2002 Godhra train burning incident. The incident sparked riots in Gujarat, and the film explores the events surrounding this dark chapter in Indian history. Vikrant Massey, Ridhi Dogra, and Raashii Khanna play key roles in the film, which dives deep into the truth behind the incident.
MP CM Announces The Sabarmati Report As Tax-Free In Support Of Makers
Mohan Yadav expressed his strong support for the film, calling it a “very good movie.” In his address to reporters in Bhopal, the CM stated, “I will go to watch the movie myself. I also told my ministers, MLAs and MPs to watch this film. We are also going to make it tax-free in the state so that maximum people can watch it.”
Yadav added that the Godhra incident remains a controversial and painful topic, but The Sabarmati Report would help reveal the truth.
The Chief Minister also took the opportunity to criticise opposition parties for using the Godhra incident for political gain. Yadav specifically highlighted how Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was Gujarat’s CM at the time of the incident, helped restore the state’s honour during a difficult period.
PM Modi Recently PRAISED The Vikrant Massey Starrer
Prime Minister Modi himself praised the film earlier this week, sharing his thoughts on The Sabarmati Report in a post on X. He acknowledged the film for addressing the “truth” of one of India’s most controversial events. Modi noted that a “fake narrative” about the incident could only persist for so long.
The film has also received support from BJP leaders. Madhya Pradesh cabinet minister Vishvas Sarang praised the film for exposing the truth about the Godhra incident, in which 59 people tragically lost their lives. Sarang claimed that the film debunks the narrative spread by the opposition parties, particularly Congress, which he accused of distorting history to tarnish Gujarat’s image.
