Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video (VVKWWV) director Raaj Shaandilyaa has issued an official apology to Maddock Films for using a popular dialogue from their hit movie Stree without permission.
The line “O Stree kal aana hi tha,” from the 2018 horror-comedy starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, is well-known in meme culture. However, it was used in Shaandilyaa’s film without the necessary clearance from the production company.
Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films is known for its successful horror-comedy franchise, which began with Stree. The film quickly gained popularity, leading to a sequel released in August 2024 that earned over Rs 600 crore globally. Stree is a key player in this genre, known for its witty dialogue and engaging plot.
Raaj Shaandilyaa Apologises To Maddock Films For Using Stree Dialogue Without Permission
Raaj Shaandilyaa has acknowledged a mistake regarding the use of dialogue from the film Stree in his latest project, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. He issued an apology on behalf of himself and the production companies involved, which include Super Cassettes Ind. Pvt. Ltd., Balaji Motion Pictures, and Wakaoo Films.
He expressed regret for using characters and dialogue from Maddock Films’ franchise without permission, acknowledging the potential harm this could cause to their brand.
To address the issue, Shaandilyaa confirmed that immediate action would be taken. They are working on removing the unauthorized content from the film and aim to complete this process by 15th October 2024. He also reassured fans that such an oversight will not happen again in the future.
Shaandilyaa further clarified that Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video is not affiliated with Maddock Films or its Stree and Stree 2 franchises. Additionally, he stated that they do not claim any rights to the characters or intellectual property associated with those films.
