Will Ahmed Khan’s Baap Release Or Get Shelved Amid Sunny Deol’s Reported Rift With Zee Studios?

Sunny Deol is reportedly unhappy with Baap’s progress and the film remains stalled under Zee Studios’ new leadership.

Sunny Deol is in the headlines again, but not for a new hit film. Recent reports claimed that after Gadar 2’s success, he has stepped away from smaller projects like Soorya and Baap.

This has raised doubts about the release of Ahmed Khan’s Baap, which stars Bollywood veterans Sanjay Dutt, Mithun Chakraborty, and Jackie Shroff.

Sunny Deol Starrer Baap Stuck In Uncertainty

Touted as Bollywood’s answer to The Expendables, Baap began filming in June 2022. Most of the shooting is done, but one dance sequence featuring all four actors is still pending. Scheduling conflicts have delayed it indefinitely, putting the film’s future in question.

Insiders reveal that Sunny Deol is unhappy with the film’s progress. Rumours suggest a fallout between him and Zee Studios, the film’s producers. The project started under the leadership of former Zee Studios executive Shariq Patel.

However, after Mr Umesh Bansal took over, the film’s completion has been stalled. Reports claim that the new leadership isn’t prioritising the film, leaving it stuck in limbo.

A Clash Over Pricing?

Industry sources say that Zee Studios offered Rs 25 crore for Sunny Deol’s upcoming film Jaat, while smaller films received higher bids from satellite team of Zee headed by Ruchir Tiwari.

This has reportedly frustrated the actor, worsening his equation with the studio. There is no confirmation on these but rumours are rife. Amid this reported conflict, the fate of Baap remains unclear.

Sunny Deol: Upcoming Films

Despite Baap’s uncertain future, Sunny Deol has a packed schedule. His next film, Jaat, directed by Gopichand Malineni, hits cinemas on April 10. He will also star in Lahore 1947 with Rajkumar Santoshi and Border 2 with Anurag Singh.

Additionally, he will play Lord Hanuman in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, alongside Ranbir Kapoor. He is expected to start filming after wrapping up Border 2.

With so much happening, Baap’s release remains a mystery. Will it make it to cinemas, or will it be another Bollywood project lost in delays? Time will tell.
