‘Woh Bada Acha Hai’: Anubhav Sinha Talks About His Admiration For Shah Rukh Khan, Reveals What SRK Did When He Asked If Akon Could Sing In Hindi

Anubhav Sinha reflects on his admiration for Shah Rukh Khan during Ra One production, admitting he was "enamored" and considered everything SRK said as "gospel truth."

Anubhav Sinha recently opened up about his experience working with Shah Rukh Khan on the 2011 film Ra One. Despite the film’s hit soundtrack, it didn’t perform well at the box office.

Anubhav Sinha Admits He Felt ‘Enamoured’ By Shah Rukh Khan

During a chat with casting director Mukesh Chhabra on Mashable India’s YouTube channel, Sinha admitted he felt “enamored” by the superstar during the project. He confessed that whatever SRK said felt like “gospel truth” to him.

Sinha started by sharing his thoughts on the film. He stated, “Vo bada acha bhi hai aur usmein mujhse kuch kamiyan bhi reh gayi” (It’s good, but a lot of things lacked on my part). This honesty reflects the director’s introspection about the film’s shortcomings.

Filmmaker Recalls The Time When He Met SRK To Discuss Ra One

When Sinha first met with Khan to discuss the script, the actor quickly agreed to be part of the project. The director recalled SRK asking how long it would take to get the film ready. Sinha replied that it would take about two years. He believes that this commitment resonated with Khan, encouraging him to join the film.

Working with Khan had its advantages. One memorable moment occurred while Sinha was collaborating on a song with the music duo Vishal-Shekhar. They considered Akon for the vocals. When Sinha pitched this idea to Khan, he asked if Akon would sing in Hindi. The superstar replied he would see if something could be arranged.

In an unexpected twist, Sinha shared that they had to leave early to catch a flight. SRK asked him to do so for some work, and they ended up at a nightclub atop a hotel in Times Square. To Sinha’s surprise, Akon was already there. He fondly remembered the international star calling him “big man.”

Reflecting on his time working with Khan, Sinha acknowledged, “Mere saath jo nuksaan tha vo ye tha ke (My loss was) whatever he said I was so enamored by him that whatever he said sounded gospel truth to me which should not happen. That’s not his fault, that’s my fault.”
