Story:

It all starts with a fortuitous meeting between blogger Aanya, played by Kriti, and Dhruv, played by Rajkummar, who is dissatisfied with the way his new app’s launch party went. Their first meeting does not go as planned. But the two keep running into each other and eventually fall in love. They decide to go ahead and tie the knots, so Aanya asks Dhruv to bring his parents home, despite the fact that the latter is an orphan. Dhruv then chooses to create his own family by persuading ex-lovers Paresh Rawal aka Purushottam Mishra and Ratna Pathak Shah aka Dipti Kashyap to play his parents.

Performances:

Paresh Rawal, as a fictitious father, leaves no stone unturned in his quest to become one. His one-liners and timing are so well-balanced that it all appears to be spontaneous rather than scripted. Ratna Pathak Shah is one of the best things in the film. The actor understands when to act without saying anything and when to be amusing. Her relationship with Rajkummar, who plays her son, is pleasantly surprising and relaxing to watch.

Rajkummar Rao and Kriti Sanon were excellent choices for the parts they play in the film. Rajkummar, at his finest, offers another terrific performance.

Paresh Rawal-Ratna Pathak & Rajkummar Rao-Kriti Sanon’s chemistry will make you believe they are in love, and their humorous timing, which appears to be very spontaneous, will win you over.

Technical Departments:

Although the plot is enjoyable and heartwarming, there were a few sequences that appeared extraneous. A few characters, especially Aparshakti Khurana’s, could have been written in a more complementary approach to the plot. They don’t seem to belong in a few of scenes. The editing, on the other hand, is fantastic, as the film’s pace is maintained throughout. There were no issues there or in the sound department. The casting is particularly excellent, as Rajkummar, Kriti, Paresh, and Ratna appear to be a very convincing family!

Verdict:

When you have a star-studded cast like this, good performances are expected, and that is exactly what we received. Each and every one of them deserves a pat on the back! But it’s the performers’ chemistry as well as the warm family vibes that make this film a winner.
