Sivakarthikeyan’s Amaran is enjoying a massive Diwali run at the box office. Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, the war drama released on 31 October and quickly turned into a blockbuster hit.

The film faced tough competition from other releases like Lucky Baskhar, KA, Brother, and Bollywood’s Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. However, Amaran managed to pull ahead as one of the preferred choices among audiences this festive season.

The film is a biographical tribute to the late Major Mukund Varadarajan, an Indian Army hero. It tells the story of his courage and sacrifice, which has deeply resonated with viewers. In just 10 days, the film crossed the Rs 200 crore mark at the worldwide box office, making it a major hit.

Amaran Dominates Tamil Nadu Box Office, Beats Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan

Amaran has set new records in Tamil Nadu. It earned Rs 89 crore within its first week and continued to see strong collections in its second week. By day 10, the film had crossed Rs 100 crore in the state alone.

On its second Friday, it added Rs 5.5 crore to its total, reaching Rs 94.5 crore by day nine. The film has now overtaken Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan, which had a lifetime collection of Rs 95 crore in Tamil Nadu. This impressive milestone solidifies Sivakarthikeyan’s rising star power in the industry.

Worldwide Collections Of Amaran Cross Rs 200 Cr

Amaran isn’t just a hit in India; it’s also performing well globally. The film’s worldwide earnings have reached Rs 200 crore, with half of that coming from markets outside Tamil Nadu, including other parts of India and overseas. The film’s patriotic themes and emotional storytelling have struck a chord with audiences everywhere, leading to packed theatres.

Pre-sales for its second Saturday have been phenomenal, reportedly almost double that of Vettaiyan’s sales on a similar day. This shows the strong demand and continued interest in the film even after its first week.

Amaran has emerged as the clear winner this Diwali, surpassing its competitors to become Sivakarthikeyan’s biggest success to date. The film has already beaten his previous hit, Don, released in 2022. Industry insiders expect Amaran to double the lifetime earnings of Don, further establishing Sivakarthikeyan’s status as one of Kollywood’s top stars.

The film’s success is also attributed to Rajkumar Periasamy’s direction and Sai Pallavi’s stellar performance as Indhu, Major Mukund’s wife. Supporting actors like Rahul Bose and Bhuvan Arora have added depth to the film, enriching its storyline.

What’s Next For Sivakarthikeyan?
