Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 has taken the Indian box office by storm, with the film crossing a huge milestone in just two days. The movie raked in approximately Rs. 105 crore on its opening day and continued to shine on Day 2, pushing its total earnings to nearly Rs. 296 crore in India alone.
At this pace, the film is set to surpass Rs. 550 crore over the extended four-day weekend, a number that could potentially leave even Baahubali 2’s Rs. 461 crore behind.
Pushpa 2 Hindi Surpasses Rs 130 Cr Mark, Worldwide Collections Cross Rs 400 Cr
In terms of regional success, the Hindi version of Pushpa 2 has shown remarkable strength. Although there was a slight dip in collections on Day 2, from Rs. 72 crore on the opening day to Rs. 59 crore, it still crossed the Rs. 130 crore nett mark on Day 2 with a strong momentum.
Pushpa 2 Hindi (Nett Collection)
| Day | Collection (in crores) |
|---|---|
| Thu | Rs 72 cr |
| Fri | Rs 59 cr |
| Total | Rs 131 cr nett |
Its hold in North India has been especially impressive, with only a 20 per cent drop from its record-breaking first day. Even if the drop had been larger, the film would have still seen a successful second day, further securing its position as a potential record-breaker in the region.
However, not all areas experienced the same smooth ride. In the Telugu states, the film saw an unexpected 67 per cent drop on Day 2, with collections falling from Rs. 80 crore on Day 1 to Rs. 26.50 crore. While such a drastic dip would usually raise alarms, this drop can be attributed to soaring ticket prices rather than poor reception.
These inflated prices are expected to be adjusted by Monday, which could help the film regain its stronghold, much like what happened with Devara earlier this year.
Elsewhere in the South, the film performed solidly in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, both of which saw collections around Rs. 8 crore. Kerala, however, saw a slight drop due to mixed reviews. Despite this, Kerala remains a smaller market for the film, so the dip isn’t seen as a significant setback.
