Aditya Roy Kapur and Ali Fazal are set to bring a thrilling rivalry to life in Raj & DK’s upcoming Netflix series, Rakt Bramhand, where they’ll play opposing princes competing for the throne.
The series, directed by Tumbbad fame Rahi Anil Barve, promises a gripping mix of fantasy and action, blending storytelling styles that made Raj & DK’s previous hits like The Family Man and Farzi so popular.
A report from Peeping Moon states that it is based on the well-known Marathi short story “Vidhushak” by award-winning writer G.A. Kulkarni.
Rakt Bramhand In About Two Royal Princes Vying For Throne
Rakt Bramhand dives into a mythical world where two royal brothers clash in their quest for power. Each prince, vying for their place as king, must prove his strength and wisdom through a series of elaborate trials.
The story’s origin as a short story provided an intense, single-location narrative, and director Barve saw the potential to expand this world further. Initially considering a feature film, he ultimately decided that the story’s depth would be best explored in a series format.
When Raj & DK and screenwriter Sita R. Menon joined, the project evolved into Netflix India’s first grand fantasy series, with six action-packed episodes that promise to be visually striking and emotionally intense.
The original tale centres around a royal court jester, or vidhushak, chosen by one of the brothers as a key advisor in his race to outwit his sibling. In the series adaptation, audiences can expect to see this character adding layers of intrigue and unpredictability.
The narrative unfolds in the courtyard of Raktakshee Devi, a powerful goddess, where the two princes must undergo fiery trials, testing their skills and resilience in a bid to rule. As the challenges intensify, only one prince can claim the throne, setting the stage for high-stakes drama.
Raj & DK’s Action Series Expected To Premiere By Late 2025
In addition to Kapur and Fazal as the two central characters, the cast features Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Wamiqa Gabbi in pivotal roles, though details about their characters remain under wraps.
While Kapur and Fazal will embody the rivalry, these new characters are expected to bring their own twists to the already intricate storyline.
According to sources, Rakt Bramhand draws inspiration from both traditional Indian mythology and medieval tales, creating a unique and engaging atmosphere that promises to captivate audiences.
Billed as Netflix’s first foray into high-budget fantasy action for the Indian market, the series is expected to deliver not only compelling storytelling but also intense visual effects. With production well underway, Rakt Bramhand is slated to complete filming by November, with its premiere planned for late 2025.
