Varun Dhawan recently opened up about his interest in doing action films and how he faced some resistance in pursuing that path. The actor revealed that Aditya Chopra, the head of Yash Raj Films, once declined his request to cast him in an action role.
At the trailer launch of his upcoming web series Citadel: Honey Bunny in Mumbai, Varun shared his experience with fans and the media. He recalled a conversation with Aditya Chopra where he asked why younger actors weren’t considered for action films.
Varun Dhawan REVEALS Why Aditya Chopra Refused To Cast Him In An Action Film
Varun said, “I asked Aditya Chopra why he can’t make an action film with younger talent and if he could cast me. But he told me that he only wanted to give me acting roles, not action. I kept pursuing him, and he eventually said- Look, I can’t do that because I can’t give you that budget right now. You’re not at that place where I can give you such a big budget.”
Varun explained that this feedback got him thinking about what it takes to create a big-budget action film. He even asked Aditya about the kind of budget required for such projects. “He gave me a figure and explained how much money it takes to make something big in action,” Varun added.
