EXCLUSIVE: Vicky Kaushal & Rashmika Mandanna’s Chhaava Likely To Postpone Release To January 2025 & Avoid Clash With Pushpa 2

Chhaava makers are planning to shift the film's release to January 2025 to avoid a box-office clash with Pushpa 2 and arrive on a better date.

Chhaava, the upcoming historical drama featuring Vicky Kaushal, might not be hitting theatres this December as initially planned. According to our sources, the team is considering pushing the release to early 2025 to avoid clashing with Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2

Currently, Pushpa 2 is set to release on December 5, while Chhaava was initially lined up for December 6. This close release timing could have led to an intense box-office competition. Now, it seems that Maddock Films is rethinking the date to give both films a better chance to succeed.

Chhaava Makers To Postpone Its Release To January 2025?

Our sources reveal that makers are now eyeing a suitable release date in January 2025. If all goes well, they are likely to shift the date. An official announcement is awaited.

This potential change in Chhaava’s release is largely about maximising its success at the box office. With Pushpa 2 generating considerable excitement, releasing Chhaava so close to it could result in tough competition.

The production team wants to give the film a less crowded release period, allowing it to capture audience interest without competing with another major release. They’re looking at an early 2025 date, with January as a top choice, to give the film a stronger shot at standing out on its own.

With production on Chhaava reportedly near completion, the film is almost ready for theatres. However, the team is carefully choosing the right release timing, understanding the impact this can have on box-office results.

About This Historical Drama

Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film is based on Shivaji Sawant’s Marathi novel Chhava, which explores the life and struggles of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the brave son of Chhatrapati Shivaji.

Vicky Kaushal stars as Sambhaji Maharaj, while Rashmika Mandanna takes on the role of Yesubai, his wife. The cast also includes Divya Dutta as Soyarabai, Sambhaji’s stepmother, and Akshaye Khanna as the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, adding depth to this historical tale.
