Aamir Khan is taking up the role of a producer for a love story set in Japan, intended as a debut platform for his son, Junaid Khan. This follows Junaid’s upcoming acting debut in Yash Raj Films’ historical drama Maharaj later this year. Additionally, Junaid has secured a role in his second film alongside Khushi Kapoor, the daughter of the late Sridevi and Boney Kapoor. The report previously disclosed that Junaid is set to begin shooting for the new project in November, spanning a three-month schedule. Recent information has also surfaced, indicating that the upcoming film is, in fact, a remake of a foreign movie.
Aamir Khan’s Son Junaid to Star in Indian Remake of Thai Film ‘One Day’
As latest report by Pinkvilla that Aamir Khan and Junaid Khan film is the remake of a Thai film called One Day. Aamir Khan’s fascination with the 2016 Thai romantic drama led to the acquisition of the official rights for the Indian remake last year. Sunil Pandey, a longstanding associate of Aamir Khan and also the director of this venture, has adeptly transformed the essence of the Thai film to align with the Indian context. The central character in this adaptation will be brought to life by Junaid Khan. Although the search for the female lead opposite Junaid is still in progress, no definitive choice has been finalized. According to a reliable insider, Junaid will be portraying the role of a reserved 30-year-old IT officer in the film.
One Day emerged as a significant triumph, gaining both critical acclaim and financial success. The film’s achievements included securing two Thailand National Film Association Awards in 2017. Under the direction of Banjong Pisanthanakun and featuring Chantavit Dhanasevi and Nittha Jirayungyurn, the narrative revolves around a man who embarks on a daring venture to spend a fleeting day with his crush. His scheme involves pretending to be her boyfriend, a ruse necessitated by her temporary memory loss following an accident. The movie garnered admiration for its profound emotional resonance and intricate narrative layers, artfully weaving themes of deception, confrontation, memory, and self-sacrifice. In the upcoming adaptation, Junaid is poised to step into the directorial shoes of Banjong, taking on the role of an IT professional who carries unexpressed affections for a colleague, hindered by his reluctance to reveal his sentiments.
Aamir Khan, famously known as Bollywood’s “Mr. Perfectionist,” has consistently pushed the boundaries of content creation through his remarkable original stories. However, his recent focus has shifted towards taking on remake projects. The celebrated superstar is currently juggling production responsibilities for five movies, out of which three are remakes. Alongside the Junaid Khan project, Aamir is overseeing the transformation of the 2018 Spanish sports drama Campeones and the successful Malayalam dark comedy Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey from last year. The remake of Campeones stars Farhan Akhtar in a leading role and is directed by RS Prasanna. The latter, featuring Fatima Sana Shaikh, will be directed by the original Malayalam filmmaker as well. Additionally, under Aamir Khan Productions, the upcoming releases include Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies and Sunil Pandey’s Pritam Pyare scheduled for this year.
