Adbhut Trailer Review: Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Detective Role Misses The Mark In This Horror Thriller, Predictable Plot Fails To Impress

Adbhut trailer fails to impress as Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s detective role falls flat in a predictable and lacklustre supernatural thriller.

The trailer for Adbhut, a new supernatural thriller, hit the internet on August 24, and it’s safe to say it didn’t quite hit the mark. The film, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Diana Penty, Shreya Dhanwanthary, and Rohan Mehra, aims to deliver a spine-chilling experience but ends up feeling more like a damp squib.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui took to Instagram to share the trailer, teasing, “Truth exists beyond belief – ‘ADBHUT’ Trailer! Releasing on 15th September only on #SonyMax.” While Siddiqui’s excitement is palpable, the trailer itself leaves much to be desired.

What’s In Adbhut Trailer?

The trailer kicks off with Shreya Dhanwanthary and Rohan Mehra as a couple who move into a new home, only to be confronted by strange, supernatural occurrences.

They turn to Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s detective character for help. As the investigation progresses, suspicions begin to swirl around Diana Penty’s character, suggesting she might be linked to the eerie events.

Siddiqui’s detective delivers the line, “Agar kuch dikhai nahi deta toh iska matlab yeh nahi ki wo hai nahi. Iska matlab hai ki vahan roshni kam hai,” which tries to add depth but fails to stir up genuine intrigue.

Adbhut Trailer Review

The trailer’s depiction of Siddiqui’s character feels more like a gimmick than a gripping role. His detective, with his magnifying glass and tucked-in gun, seems out of place and fails to elevate the film’s horror elements. The attention to his character’s details rather than the plot might leave audiences feeling disappointed.

Dhanwanthary and Penty are relegated to the role of mere horror props, while Rohan Mehra, who had a promising start with Baazaar, is left struggling with this film’s underwhelming narrative.

Despite Siddiqui’s reputation for taking on diverse roles, his attempt at a detective role appears to have missed the mark. The trailer suggests that the film lacks the necessary tension and scares, rendering it a predictable watch.

Adbhut attempts to ride the wave of recent successful horror and supernatural films like Stree 2 and Munjya. However, it falls short of providing the suspense and intrigue that fans of the genre crave. The trailer’s flat execution suggests that the film might be more of a retread than a refreshing take on the genre.

Directed by Sabbir Khan and produced by Sony Pictures Films India and Sabbir Khan Films, Adbhut will have its direct-to-television premiere on Sony Max at 8 PM on September 15. With its uninspiring trailer and predictable storyline, it might be best to skip this one and look out for other horror thrills.
