Prabhas made a long-awaited return with Salaar after struggling to match the success of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. Directed by Prashanth Neel, the film achieved a remarkable feat by grossing over 600 crores worldwide. However, it did average business at the Hindi box office.
Despite its box office success, Salaar was disappointed on television, especially when compared to smaller films like Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram, which garnered higher TRP ratings.
Salaar Part 1 Gets POOR Ratings On Its Television Premiere
Its recent television premiere on Star Maahas also received unexpectedly low TRP ratings of just 6.5, contrary to predictions.
The unexpected underperformance on TV may be attributed to the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season, diverting viewers’ attention, and the cinematic nature of films like Salaar, which may not translate effectively to television.
Salaar 2 Is On The Way!
Meanwhile, preparations for Salaar 2 are underway, with shooting set to begin at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad by the end of the month.
The initial 10-day schedule will feature Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran, with most of the filming expected to wrap up this year. The makers are reportedly aiming for a December 2025 release date for the sequel.
Prabhas’ Work Front
Talking about his professional commitments, Prabhas, who was last seen in Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, has a busy slate ahead. Alongside Salaar 2, he is gearing up for the releases of Kalki 2898 AD and The Raja Saab. Additionally, fans can anticipate his cameo appearance in Vishnu Manchu’s upcoming film, Kannappa.
