Rohit Shetty is once again in the spotlight with his latest release, Singham Again. Known for his hit cop films, fans are eagerly waiting for sequels to Sooryavanshi and Simmba. However, Shetty has revealed that they will have to wait a bit longer for these films.
Rohit Shetty Says Sooryavanshi Is Not Happening Anytime Soon
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Shetty was asked about Sooryavanshi 2. He confirmed that while the film is in the works, it won’t be happening anytime soon.
“It will take time. Again, a cop film will take a bit of time, maybe a year or so. But yes, after that, I will plan. It’s too early to say which one I will start first,” he said.
When asked about Simmba 2, Shetty confirmed that the sequel is coming, but when a fan suggested merging Simmba into the Golmaal universe, Shetty laughed it off. “That will become too much. Mere pe taras khao (Have mercy on me!). This universe coming here, that universe going there. Simmba will happen, obviously; it’s one of the most loved characters in the cop universe,” he said.
He also mentioned that while Simmba is a fan favourite, he plans to focus on comedy first. “But as I said, we’ll concentrate on comedy first and then come back to it, because constantly making cop films since Simmba in 2018 might be too much for the audience as well.”
About Sooryavanshi, Simmba & Golmaal Franchise
Sooryavanshi, which starred Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, and Ranveer Singh, brought together Shetty’s iconic cop characters. The action-packed movie focused on their fight against terrorism, and its star-studded cast made it a massive success.
On the other hand, Simmba, which featured Ranveer Singh as the morally ambiguous cop Sangram Bhalerao, brought a new twist to the genre. Blending intense action with themes of redemption, Simmba showcased Shetty’s ability to balance high-energy action with emotional depth.
Then there’s the Golmaal franchise, another major part of Shetty’s career. Known for its chaotic adventures and comedic moments, the Golmaal films have been a favourite for years. With four films in the series, the franchise remains one of Shetty’s most beloved works. The work on its 5th instalment is going on.
