Emraan Hashmi has given his fans the best birthday surprise. On his 46th birthday (March 24), the actor officially announced Awarapan 2, the sequel to his 2007 gangster romance action film. The movie is set to release on April 3, 2026.

Hashmi took to social media to share the big news. He posted a teaser video with memorable scenes from the original film and wrote, “Bas mujhe kuch aur der zinda rakh… #Awarapan2 in cinemas, 3rd April 2026.”
The video ended with a shocking twist – his character Shivam (who was presumed dead) appeared to wake up. This has sparked major speculation about whether the film will continue the original story or take a fresh approach.
How Awarapan Became A Cult Classic
Directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Mukesh Bhatt, Awarapan did not perform well at the box office when it was released in 2007.
However, the film gained cult status over the years. Fans still love its gripping action, emotional depth, and powerful soundtrack composed by Pritam. Songs like “Tera Mera Rishta” and “Toh Phir Aao” remain timeless favourites.
The original film featured Shriya Saran, Mrinalini Sharma, and Ashutosh Rana alongside Hashmi. Now that Awarapan 2 is officially happening, fans are eager to know if Shriya Saran will return or if a new actress will take the lead. The makers have yet to reveal the full cast.
Will The Story Continue In Awarapan 2?

Interestingly, Hashmi and Shriya Saran reunited last year in the Disney+ Hotstar series Showtime. Though they did not play love interests, their on-screen chemistry sparked nostalgia. If she returns for Awarapan 2, it would be an exciting reunion for the duo.

Before Awarapan 2 arrives, Hashmi has another major project coming up. He will be seen in Ground Zero, an action-packed drama set to release in April this year.
The teaser for Ground Zero will be attached to Salman Khan’s Sikandar, which hits cinemas on Eid 2025.
