Vicky Kaushal’s upcoming historical epic Chhaava is set to make a grand entrance in cinemas, and the excitement just got bigger. The makers have confirmed that the film will be released in IMAX format.
Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava tells the powerful story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, capturing his courage, struggles, and legacy.
Chhaava Makers Confirm IMAX Release Of Vicky Kaushal Starrer
To build anticipation, the team dropped a new IMAX poster featuring Vicky in his warrior avatar. Sharing the announcement, the makers wrote, “Witness the courage, honour, and indomitable spirit of the Hindavi Swarajya like never before! 🔥 @vickykaushal09 brings history to life in Chhaava, a tale of strength, valour, and sacrifice – experience the best in IMAX. ⚔️ Glory awaits. The film’s promotional campaign is in full swing, with the team travelling to different cities. The trailer has already created a strong buzz along with the release of two songs “Jaane Tu” and “Aaya Re Toofan.”
Film’s Controversy
While the teaser received appreciation, one particular dance sequence from the trailer sparked controversy.
Maharashtra Minister Uday Samant openly criticised the scene, stating it was inappropriate for a film depicting the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. The backlash led the makers to remove the dance sequence from the final cut.
Vicky Kaushal explained that the dance scene was intended to highlight the culture on a global stage. However, after realising that followers of Sambhaji Maharaj found it unnecessary, the makers chose to remove it out of respect for their sentiments.
Alongside Kaushal, the film stars Rashmika Mandanna, Akshaye Khanna, and Ashutosh Rana in pivotal roles.
