The much-anticipated film Chhaava is set to be an impressive spectacle. Directed by Laxman Utekar, this historical drama features Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna in key roles. Vicky portrays the brave Chatrapati Sambhaji, and Rashmika plays his wife, Yesubai.
AR Rahman Has Composed A Special Track For Chhaava, To Be Played During Sambhaji’s Coronation Ceremony
Recent reports reveal that the film will feature a lavish coronation ceremony for Sambhaji, which is a significant part of the story. To heighten the grandeur of this scene, renowned composer AR Rahman has created a special song. This track will be a vital element of the coronation and is being produced on a massive scale.
The film’s music draws inspiration from traditional Marathi folk tunes. Rahman is known for his innovative sound, and this time he incorporates instruments like the dholaki and tuntune, which were popular during the era depicted in the film. The lyrics of the song are inspired by the Powada, a famous Marathi poetic form that celebrates historical figures, particularly kings.
The Song Has Been Shot With 700 Dancers In Background
A source revealed to Mid-day that the choreography for this spectacular number is handled by Vijay Ganguly, who previously worked on Stree 2. He has brought together an impressive 700 background dancers to create a majestic atmosphere for the song.
The scene portrays the entire city of Raigad celebrating Sambhaji’s coronation, starting with him participating in traditional rituals as his subjects cheer him on. Both Vicky and Rashmika will be seen joining in the festivities, making this the sole dance number in the film, while other songs will play in the background.
Filming for the coronation track took place over four days on a set designed to resemble the iconic Raigad Fort in Maharashtra. A historical piece published by a London newspaper helped the director understand the vibrancy of the actual coronation ceremony, which took place on January 16, 1681.
During the song, Vicky’s character performs the yagna and the thread ceremony, while Yesubai conducts the Rajabhishek and aarti. As the kingdom rejoices, Sambhaji ultimately ascends the throne.
