Rajkummar Rao Channels Sourav Ganguly As Fresh Kolkata Shoot Glimpses From Aryan Club Grounds Surface

Rajkummar Rao’s transformation into Sourav Ganguly has moved from announcement buzz to full blown on ground action. Fresh glimpses from the Kolkata schedule of Dada: The Sourav Ganguly Story show the actor shooting at the Aryan Club grounds in the Maidan area, bringing the former India captain’s cricketing world back to the city that shaped him.

The visuals have quickly become a talking point among film and cricket fans, not just because Rao is stepping into one of Indian cricket’s most loved personalities, but because the shoot is unfolding in locations closely tied to Ganguly’s early sporting ecosystem.

Fresh Glimpses From Aryan Club Grounds

The latest shoot update places Rajkummar Rao at Aryan Club grounds, where the actor was seen filming portions connected to Ganguly’s cricketing journey. The Kolkata leg follows the start of filming on the biopic, which went on floors in April 2026.

Rao had earlier marked the beginning of the film’s shoot on Instagram with the caption, “And it begins… the one and only Dada,” while Luv Films announced the production kick off with, “Lights, Camera, Cricket! Dada Filming Begins Now,” setting the tone for one of Hindi cinema’s keenly tracked sports biopics in production.

The Kolkata schedule has also included filming at Ganguly’s Behala residence, with childhood and family portions being recreated for the screen. Aparajita Auddy plays Sourav’s mother Nirupa Ganguly, while Saswata Chatterjee is associated with the role of his father, Chandi Ganguly. Rahul Dev Bose plays Snehasish Ganguly, and Tanya Maniktala appears as Dona Ganguly.

Why Motwane And Rao Make This Biopic One To Watch

Dada: The Sourav Ganguly Story is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and produced by Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg under Luv Films. The film stars Rajkummar Rao as Sourav Ganguly and traces the journey of the former India captain, whose career ran from 1992 to 2008 and whose leadership helped redefine the attitude of Indian cricket.

Motwane and Rao previously collaborated on Trapped in 2017, a performance driven survival drama that remains one of Rao’s most acclaimed films. Their reunion gives Dada a strong creative hook, especially with the film balancing personal history, sporting ambition and Ganguly’s enduring bond with Kolkata.
