Emergency: Protestors Enter Inside Theatre In London & Shout ‘Khalistan Zindabaad’ To Interrupt The Screening Of Kangana Ranaut Starrer

Emergency faces both praise for its storytelling and protests in India and abroad over its controversial portrayal of historical events.

Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency is both praised and criticised. After delays, it was finally released worldwide last week. The film has been praised for how it portrays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and for Kangana’s strong performance. But, its path to cinemas hasn’t been smooth, with new challenges emerging in London.

Khalistani Supporters Disrupt Emergency Screening In London

While the film faces backlash in Punjab from the SGPC community over its portrayal of Sikhs, protests have also reached the UK. Videos on X (formerly Twitter) showed Khalistani supporters disrupting a London theatre screening.

The protesters entered mid-show, shouting “Khalistan Zindabad” and calling for the film to stop. Although the protest was non-violent, it shocked the audience, and some even argued with the protesters. However, the theatre has not filed complaints.

Kangana Ranaut Starrer Has Also Faced Opposition In Punjab

The London protest adds to the ongoing issues the film is facing. In Punjab, the SGPC community has sent a letter to the state’s Chief Minister, asking for the film’s release to be banned.

While no official action has been taken, screenings in some cities have been affected. Theatre owners are concerned about possible protests and safety risks, leading some to reduce the film’s showings.

About Emergency Movie

Emergency has faced delays since its production. The film, which tells the story of how Indira Gandhi declared an emergency in the 1970s, was finished long ago but struggled to get a release. Issues with the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) pushed its release from September to January 17.

Despite the protests, Emergency is gaining attention for its powerful story and Kangana’s direction. With protests continuing in different places, the film is sparking debates about its take on important historical events.
