Emraan Hashmi just made every Awarapan fan’s day with an exciting update. As we all know, the much-awaited sequel to the 2007 cult hit is finally happening, and it’s coming sooner than expected.
In a recent chat with Ranveer Allahbadia, the actor confirmed that Awarapan 2 is set to go on floors in coming months.

Hashmi shared that the script is still in the works. He also revealed that the soot is set to commence from July this year. The team has locked the film’s release date, which is April 3, 2026.

That means fans have less than a year to wait once filming begins. On March 24, the actor has recently announced the squeal with a short video. He wrote, “Bas mujhe kuch aur der zinda rakh… #Awarapan2 in cinemas, 3rd April 2026,” read the official caption on social media.
The surprise announcement teaser opened with Hashmi standing alone on a boat, staring at the sunset. His voiceover was packed with emotions & set the mood for what’s coming.
“Kisi aur ki zindagi ke liye marna hi meri manzil hai,” he says in the teaser that reminded fans of his iconic character.
The teaser also flashes moments from the first film, including scenes with Shriya Saran. As a cherry on top, the timeless track “Tera Mera Rishta” plays in the background, tugging at every 2000s kid’s heart.
Titled Awarapan 2: The Journey Continues, the teaser confirms that the film’s tone is emotional, intense, and rooted in the past.
About The First Film
The original Awarapan was directed by Mohit Suri & featured Hashmi in one of his most memorable roles. Shriya Saran, Mrinalini Sharma, Ashutosh Rana, Ashish Vidyarthi, and Shaad Randhawa played key roles in the story of love, redemption, and sacrifice.
While the rest of the cast for the sequel hasn’t been revealed yet, fans are already building theories and hoping for a powerful return of familiar faces.
Hashmi, who is also prepping for his film Ground Zero, seems all set to bring back the magic of Awarapan with a fresh twist.
