As we at Box Office Worldwide were the first to report about the initial talks between Reliance Entertainment and exhibitors confirming the release date of Sooryavanshi on 13th August 2021 (Independence Day weekend) has started but it seems the tussle between National Chains (PVR Cinema’s, Inox Cinema’s and Cinepolis /Fun Republic Cinemas) and Reliance Entertainment also continues.
As reported in Feb 2021 about National Cinema Chains and not agreeing to terms proposed by Reliance Entertainment it seems they have been adamant on the same to date. National Cinema Chains has again communicated to Reliance that they would play Sooryavanshi only on regular terms set by the association i.e., 50,40,30 plus an additional bonus of 2.5% if the film surpasses the benchmark of 32.50cr box office net is at this National chains against what Reliance Entertainment has demanded i.e., 60,50,40.
The source added that negotiations are on but nobody has arrived at a definite solution. National Chains might agree to waive off the VPF (Virtual Print Fee) only if all the digital players like UFO, Scrabble, K Sera Sera agree on the same but on sharing terms they won’t budge a little.
On another hand, Reliance Entertainment has got some Independent cinema chains confirmation about agreeing with the sharing terms and no digital charges to the producer and influencing other cinemas to agree to the terms so that they can arrive at the final cinema’s count and sort the decision for the announcement of the release date before Rohit Shetty is back to India from the Khatron Ke Khiladi shoot and decide on National Chains issues whether to agree or release the film without them.
