Shah Rukh Khan is attending the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, where he has been honoured with the prestigious Pardo Alla Carriera Award.

This award celebrates his remarkable contributions to cinema and marks an important moment in his career. Shah Rukh Khan travelled to Switzerland to accept the award and also took part in a live session, engaging with fans and industry professionals.

Shah Rukh Khan Talks About Action In Films

During the festival, Shah Rukh confirmed his role in Sujoy Ghosh’s upcoming film King. The Bollywood superstar shared insights into the physical challenges he expects to face while filming. He revealed that to prepare for the demanding action sequences, he will be undergoing a rigorous weight loss regimen.

Shah Rukh candidly spoke about the reality of performing stunts, saying, “Action is difficult, you have to practice it, learn it, and doubles are doing some of the dangerous stunts. I have some wonderful guys. But 80% of them you have to finally do it yourself if you have to sell it truthfully. Otherwise, it doesn’t look right.”

While Shah Rukh’s on-screen persona is often portrayed as effortlessly cool, he humorously admitted that the reality of filming action scenes is far from glamorous. “The next film I’m doing, King, I have to start working on my film King. Have to lose some weight a little, and stretch a little so my groin doesn’t get caught while doing action. It is painful. It’s the worst thing to see me on sets after action because I look really cool in the film but I’m all tied up and suddenly you see people and send flying kisses,” he joked.

Shah Rukh’s presence at the festival wasn’t just about his upcoming projects. While accepting the Pardo Alla Carriera Award, he charmed an audience of 8,000 with his wit and humour. He joked about the difficulty of pronouncing the name of the award and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the audience. “Thank you all for welcoming me with such wide arms – wider than the ones I do on screen,” he said, sparking laughter and applause.

Shah Rukh Khan On His Experience Being In Switzerland

The Bollywood icon also commented on the sweltering Swiss summer, drawing a parallel to the heat back home in India. “It’s a very beautiful, very cultural, very artistic, and extremely hot city of Locarno. So many people stuffed up in a little square and so hot. It’s just like being home in India,” he quipped, adding a light-hearted touch to the event.

Shah Rukh also took a moment to reflect on the power of cinema during his speech. He described it as “the most profound and influential artistic medium of our age,” emphasising that art should transcend boundaries and express its truth from the heart.

“Art is the act of affirming life above all. It goes beyond every man-made boundary into a space of liberation. It need not be political. It need not be polemical. It need not sermonise. It need not be intellectualised. It need not moralize. Art and cinema only need to say what they feel from the heart, to express their truth. And that, to me, is the biggest creativity, honestly,” he concluded.
