Varun Dhawan and Pooja Hegde are gearing up for an exciting new project together. According to fresh reports, they will soon begin a three-day shoot in Rishikesh for David Dhawan’s upcoming rom-com Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. The film also stars Mrunal Thakur and promises to bring back the charm of 90s Bollywood comedy.
Varun has been juggling multiple projects, including Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari with Janhvi Kapoor. Pooja was last seen in Deva with Shahid Kapoor. Now, they are set to collaborate on this fun-filled entertainer under David Dhawan’s direction.
Varun Dhawan And Pooja Hegde Heading For Dehradun
Media reports suggest that Varun and Pooja will head to Dehradun and reach Rishikesh on March 21 2025 for a three-day shoot. The schedule includes an adventurous river rafting sequence. A production insider shared that it’s a short but crucial schedule, and the team will film key outdoor scenes during this period.
The film’s production has been moving quickly. Major portions were shot in Goa, and after Rishikesh, the team will head to London for the next leg. The shoot officially began in Mumbai on July 10, 2024. Since then, several cast members, including Maniesh Paul and Kubbra Sait, have joined the shoot.

David Dhawan is known for his colourful, high-energy comedies, and Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai seems to follow the same style. A source close to the project revealed that David Dhawan has developed a fresh and original concept. He is confident that he can bring back the magic of classic Bollywood comedies.
The film’s title is a nostalgic nod to the 90s hit song Ishq Sona Hai from Biwi No. 1, a film directed by David Dhawan starring Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen. This connection has already sparked excitement among fans.
Varun Dhawan Has A Busy Schedule Ahead
Varun is currently managing multiple projects. Apart from this film, he recently wrapped up Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, set for release in September 2025.
He is also shooting simultaneously for Sunny Deol starrer Border 2. Varun will sport a clean-shaven look for Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, while Border 2 requires him to have a moustache.
