Indian 2 Earns Rs 25 Cr In India Amid Largely Negative Reviews

The sequel to director Shankar’s 1996 hit Indian, Indian 2 managed to gross Rs 25 crore on its opening day nationwide. However, this fell short of the Rs 28 crore debut of Kamal Haasan’s previous blockbuster, Vikram, in 2022, which received glowing reviews and went on to become his highest-grossing film with over Rs 430 crore in global collections.

The film garnered Rs 17 crore from its Tamil version, Rs 1.1 crore from Hindi screenings titled Hindustani 2, and Rs 7.9 crore from the Telugu release under the name Bharateeyudu 2. While Tamil Nadu showed the highest interest with a 55% occupancy rate, other regions like Mumbai and Delhi-NCR reported much lower figures at 12.5% and 8%, respectively.

Despite the lukewarm response, Indian 2 managed to draw the crowd, indicating that Kamal Haasan’s star power remains influential in the industry.
