Kannada actor and filmmaker Rishab Shetty who made waves with his 2022 blockbuster Kantara, is in the news for all the wrong reasons. After recently winning a National Film Award for his role in Kantara, Shetty is now promoting his upcoming Kannada film Laughing Buddha, featuring Pramod Shetty. However, it’s his recent interview with MetroSaga that’s causing a stir online.
Rishab Shetty TROLLED For His Controversial Remark On Bollywood
In a viral clip from the interview, Shetty voiced his discontent with Bollywood’s portrayal of India at international film festivals. Speaking in Kannada, Shetty criticised Bollywood for often showing India in a negative light on the global stage.
He said, “Indian films, especially Bollywood, show India in a bad light. These art films are invited to global events and given a red carpet. My nation, my state, my language—my pride. Why not take it on a positive note globally, and that’s what I try to do.”

What Rishab Shetty Said On Success Of Kantara
Shetty’s Kantara not only won the National Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment but also celebrated significant success at the box office.
The film, set in the fictional village of Dakshina Kannada, tells the story of Shetty’s character, a Kambala champion who clashes with a strict Forest Range officer.
In a recent statement to ANI, Shetty emphasised the collective effort behind the film’s success. “This has been possible because of my entire team. I am just the face of the film, it is all because of their hard work. The production house, the DOP, the technicians, it is all because of them,” he said.
Shetty also extended his gratitude to his fans and the people of Karnataka. “I want to thank the people of Karnataka. I want to thank the National Awards panel for recognising this film. The people have made this film a hit, I am very happy. I want to dedicate this win to the people of Karnataka,” he added.
