Laapataa Ladies: Kiran Rao’s Film Renamed Lost Ladies For Oscars 2025 Campaign, Special Screening Held At New York

Ahead of the Oscars 2025 campaign, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao decided to rebrand their film Laapataa Ladies. It is now officially titled Lost Ladies as part of their global strategy. This change comes as part of their efforts to elevate the film’s international appeal, with the film being India’s official submission for next year’s Academy Awards.

Kiran Rao’s Lapataa Ladies Is Now Lost Ladies

Announcing the title change on Instagram, Aamir Khan‘s production house shared a fresh poster for Lost Ladies.

Makers shared the new poster with a caption, “The wait is over! Presenting the official poster for Lost Ladies—a glimpse into the wild, heartfelt journey of Phool and Jaya! Huge shoutout to @jahansinghbakshi and @apertureanecdotes for bringing our story to life with this stunning design. Get ready to be swept away!”

The film’s title shift is an attempt to make the story resonate better with global audiences, as Laapataa Ladies was considered to be a more region-specific name.

The new title, Lost Ladies, aims to be more universally relatable, capturing the essence of the film’s narrative while keeping its cultural roots intact.

A Special Screening In New York Was Held To Kickstart The Campaign

To kick off the Oscars campaign, a special screening of Lost Ladies was held in New York, hosted by celebrity chef Vikas Khanna.

Sharing his experience on social media, Khanna described the event as an emotional and powerful moment, writing, “Jab dil se Dua atti hai, ‘Jeet lo duniya’. This is exactly what I felt yesterday when we were hosting the Oscar campaigning event of Lost Ladies (formerly Laapataa Ladies) at Bungalow. Kiran, you are a true artist to create such an iconic film.”

Khanna went on to praise Aamir Khan for his kindness and the way he interacted with the attendees, especially the guests from the South Asian arts community. He also highlighted the dedication and inspiration of others involved in the event, including Jyoti and Prabal, who have shown unwavering support for South Asian arts.
