Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming film Love And War is already making waves long before it hits the screens. This epic romantic tale boasts a stellar cast featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal.
Scheduled to begin filming in October 2024, the movie is reportedly set for a grand release on March 20, 2026. This date is strategically chosen to coincide with Gudi Padwa and Eid, promising a festive celebration for fans.
The buzz around Love And War has been building up, and recent developments have added even more excitement. Sanjay Leela Bhansali has opted for a self-financed production model, steering clear of studio partnerships.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali Secures HUGE Non-Theatrical Deals With Netflix & Saregama
The director has secured a significant post-theatrical deal with Netflix and a notable music agreement with Saregama.
Sources close to the project revealed to Pinkvilla that Netflix has agreed to a substantial base deal for Love And War, with the potential for more based on the film’s box office success. The music deal with Saregama is also impressive, with negotiations ongoing for a satellite deal that could fetch a considerable sum.
Overall, the non-theatrical revenue for the film is expected to reach around Rs 215 crore, with room for more depending on its theatrical performance.
Filmmaker Opts For No-Studio Approach
Interestingly, the report further reveals that Bhansali has opted for a no-studio approach despite offers of a Rs 350 crore blanket deal from several studios. Instead, he has secured backend deals with the film’s leading stars.
Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal are set to benefit from this arrangement, with Kapoor receiving a significant share of the theatrical revenue. Bhansali is also looking to sell the global distribution rights, with a clause in place to ensure he retains a share of the profits.
The production of Love And War is expected to cost around Rs 200 crore, excluding the actors’ fees. The film will feature grand war sequences and other high-budget elements, reflecting Bhansali’s trademark opulence.
