Actress Kajol is stepping into a powerful new role in her upcoming mythological horror film Maa. Directed by Vishal Furia, the film is set to release in cinemas on June 27, 2025.
The announcement came with a striking poster that shows Kajol clutching a child protectively while an eerie presence looms around them.

She shared the poster on social media and teased an intense clash between good and evil. Her post hinted that a fierce battle is about to unfold when the film hits the big screen.
The chilling poster has already sparked excitement among fans, making Maa one of the most-awaited horror films of the year. Sharing the poster and release date, Kajol wrote, “Hell is here… so is the Goddess! Battle begins on 27th June 2025, in cinemas near you. #Maa #Maa27June”

Ajay Devgn’s Input In Maa’s Final Version
The film originally wrapped up in May 2024, but the team returned for additional shoots after Ajay Devgn suggested some refinements. After watching the rough cut, he felt certain sequences could be improved to heighten both the action and emotional intensity.
Last year, a source revealed that Saiwyn Quadras initially pitched the concept to Ajay, who immediately saw its potential and backed the project. Ajay recently saw the film’s early version and was highly impressed. This motivated Vishal Furia to fine-tune the action scenes to ensure the horror elements blend seamlessly with the emotional depth of the story.
About Maa & Kajol’s Upcoming Projects
The film cast also includes Ronit Roy, Indraneil Sengupta, Jitin Gulati, Gopal Singh, Surjyasikha Das, Yaaneea Bharadwaj, Roopkatha Chakraborty, and Kherin Sharma. The story revolves around an age-old struggle between darkness and divinity, merging mythological elements with supernatural horror.
Maa will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Bengali, ensuring a wider audience can experience its gripping storyline.
Apart from this film, Kajol has other big projects lined up. She will star in Kayoze Irani’s Sarzameen, where she shares the screen with Ibrahim Ali Khan, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tota Roy Chowdhury, and Rajesh Sharma.
She is also part of Charan Tej Uppalapati’s Maharagni – Queen of Queens. It features Prabhu Deva, Naseeruddin Shah, Samyuktha Menon, and Jisshu Sengupta.
