Salman Khan‘s Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace has gone through a crucial last minute change, with the makers reworking the climax and reshaping the actor’s character arc ahead of the film’s CBFC screening. For a project already carrying political weight and industry curiosity, the fresh revision puts the spotlight squarely on how the war drama wants to leave its final impact.
Climax Reworked Before CBFC Viewing
The Apoorva Lakhia directorial was originally planned as Battle of Galwan, a film rooted in the 2020 India China clash in the Galwan Valley, with Salman cast as Colonel Bikumalla Santosh Babu. It was later retitled Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace, marking a visible shift in the film’s tone and intent.
A source said, “The climax and Salman’s character arc have been reworked. The makers have been careful about how the India-China conflict is positioned, and now, the end message is in keeping with the movie’s call for peace.”
That update makes it clear that the changes are not limited to surface level edits. The emotional resolution and Salman Khan’s journey in the story have both been revised to align with the film’s peace driven message.
Revised Version Moves Toward Certification
The revised cut has already crossed an important step before certification. The film recently received a No Objection Certificate from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and has now been submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification.
Another source update stated, “It has been submitted to the CBFC and a screening date will be obtained.”
At this stage, such changes carry added significance because they shape the final version that will go before the censor board. For a film built around a real and sensitive military flashpoint, every tonal and narrative adjustment matters.
Final Cut Leans Into Peace
Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace stars Salman Khan and Chitrangda Singh and is backed by Salman Khan Films. The film draws from the Galwan Valley conflict, but its final cut now firmly emphasizes the cost of confrontation and the value of peace. That gives the project a distinct emotional identity within the war drama space and sets it apart from a more straightforward combat narrative.
Salman Khan’s Recent And Upcoming Work
As Maatrubhumi moves closer to certification, the film also stands out within Salman Khan’s recent body of work. Salman was last seen in Sikandar in 2025, after Tiger 3 and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Jaan, both of which released in 2023. He also made cameo appearances in Singham Again in 2024 and Baby John. Against that run of mainstream commercial entertainers, Maatrubhumi is among his most closely watched upcoming films because of its subject, tone, and the careful reworking that has shaped its final version.
