Maharaj, the ambitious drama from Yash Raj Films, is gearing up for its premiere on Netflix in June 2024. It will mark the acting debut of Aamir Khan’s son, Junaid Khan.
The shooting of this film was wrapped up in October 2023. It delves into the historical backdrop of the 1862 Maharaja Libel Case.
Maharaj Set For Netflix Release On June 14
Sources close to the project told Pinkvilla that Maharaj is scheduled to premiere on June 14, 2024, on Netflix. It is anticipated that the streaming platform, along with YRF, will launch a robust marketing campaign to reach a global audience.
The source stated, “YRF and Aditya Chopra have great faith in the content of Maharaj, and believe that Netflix will push the film further to a global audience. They along with Netflix are all set to launch the film digitally on June 14, 2024. A crisp marketing campaign is put in place for Maharaj.”
A concise pre-release campaign is expected, with the trailer slated for release around June 5, followed by a nine-day gap leading to the premiere.
“Being an OTT release, Netflix has strategically devised a short pre-release campaign. The major push will come to post the release when the content does the talking and creates more points for conversation,” added the source.
About Junaid Khan’s Maharaj
Directed by Siddharth P Malhotra, known for his work in Hichki, Maharaj also stars Sharvari, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Shalini Pandey in pivotal roles. The film marks YRF’s third direct-to-digital venture after Romantics and The Railway Men. Junaid portrays a journalist challenging those in positions of power.
With Maharaj poised for release, anticipation is high for Junaid’s performance and the film’s reception on the digital platform. Despite attempts to reach out to YRF for comment, they remained unavailable.
