Actress Rani Mukerji is back in her khaki uniform for the 3rd instalment of her cop franchise. She has started shooting for Mardaani 3 and is once again playing the bold cop Shivani Shivaji Roy.
The shoot began on March 26 at the Golden Tobacco factory in Mumbai’s Vile Parle. Fans are excited to see her in action again.
Rani Mukerji Shoots Crucial Scenes For Mardaani 3
According to reports, the team filmed at the factory for a week. Now, they have moved to Yash Raj Studios in Andheri to shoot the next set of scenes. A source close to the film shared some details about this schedule.
The source told mid-day, “Abhiraj has lined up some pivotal action scenes for this leg. The portions being shot now are critical to the narrative.”
Director Abhiraj Minawala is leading this action-packed project. He has planned some major fight scenes for this phase. The storyline for Mardaani 3 is expected to be more intense than the last two parts. While the first film focused on human trafficking and the second dealt with sexual assault, the third one is said to explore a topic that feels more personal and real.
Makers Seeking A STRONG Villain For The Film
The makers haven’t revealed the plot or the villain yet. They are keeping the suspense alive. Earlier, Tahir Raj Bhasin and Vishal Jethwa gave strong performances as the bad guys. The team has been looking for a new actor to bring that same intensity. Earlier, a source revealed, “Auditions are going on to bring in fresh talent. The emphasis is on finding a strong villain.”
Rani’s role as Shivani Shivaji Roy has left a strong impression on viewers since Mardaani was released in 2014. She took the role to the next level in the 2019 sequel. With the third part now in motion, it would be interesting to see what comes next.
Yash Raj Films had announced the 3rd instalment through a video marking 10 years of Mardaani. They confirmed it officially in December last year. Abhiraj Minawala is directing the film and Aditya Chopra is producing it.
Mardaani 3 is set to release in cinemas in 2026.
