Finding a poetic calm amidst the chaos of the city through the musical beat of Metro… इन दिनों
The teaser of ‘Zamaana Lage’, the softest track from Anurag Basu’s eagerly awaited hyperlink drama, has just been released and it is what everybody felt it would be — soulful, lyrical, and timelessly of the moment.
Following the low-key classic Life in a… Metro and the genre-bending Ludo, this film is the last part of Basu’s musical anthology trilogy, set against the shifting emotional landscape of urban India. Produced by Bhushan Kumar and driven by Pritam’s compositions, the film’s album leads off with Zamaana Lage — a teaser which immediately sets the scene for romance, restlessness, and rediscovery.
Sung by Arijit Singh and Shashwat Singh, Zamaana Lage takes ‘poetic soul’ from Qaisar Ul Jafri’s lovely line — ‘Tumhaare Sheher Ka Mausam Bada Suhana Lage’.
Sandeep Shrivastava also contributed to the lyrics, creating a song which connects generations — an old heritage where classical Urdu poetry embraces being wrapped in a contemporary soundscape. ‘Tumhaare sheher ka mausam bada suhana lage’ fits as more of a philosophical being — forever ambivalent to the good or bad.
The man who headed the music was Pritam Chakraborty — he says:
“We needed to be able to revive the ghazal as something emotionally alive and timely — not nostalgia but mainstream emotion — it could be pop, it could be modern,…… but rooted so much.”
It is a musical gamble — and a needed one. In an era where Bollywood blends music to either indulge us with lavish festival tracks or enflame us with synth-heavy party tracks, Zamaana Lage comes through as a meditation break.
Teaser Suggests Wisps of Collaborating Lives and Love
The teaser frames the ensemble cast of Anupam Kher, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Ali Fazal, Neena Gupta, and Saswata Chatterjee in just passing visuals of collaborating lives and love stories.
Transitory moments — a glance, a tear, an unspoken gesture — suggest a mélange of emotional chaos, connection, and isolation with a backdrop of a city that never takes a break away from the clock.
Like original Metro, this simply appears to be using music to provide place and displace narrative. Just pace.
What Is Next: Full Song On 28th May, Film On 4th July
The song Zamaana Lage will have its full version released on 28th May, but the full set will all get pushed to live for us until the theatre release of Metro…इन दिनों — 4th July 2025.
