The buzz surrounding Siddharth Anand’s next massive directorial, King, has just hit a new high!
With Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone leading the way and Suhana Khan already in the fold, the action-adventure has added two more powerhouse performers — Raghav Juyal and Saurabh Shukla.
The film started shooting on May 21 with Suhana Khan in a significant sequence, and then SRK joined the cast in Mumbai. King is destined to be one of the most expensive action films made in Indian cinema and will be shot over the next six months in multiple locations in India and abroad.
Raghav Juyal Joins SRK In Back-To-Back Projects
Dancer-actor Raghav Juyal, just fresh off the critical praise for his menacing character in Kill, has signed up for King in what sources describe as a “key character role”. This is interesting, as it is also the second collaboration for Juyal and the Khan family — he is also in Aryan Khan‘s directorial film The Ba****ds of Bollywood, which will be released on Netflix this June.
“The casting of King is very deliberate. Every actor has come on after much discussion. The team is building a layered thriller, and needed strong performers for each of the subplots,” said a source close to the production.
Saurabh Shukla Adds Weight to King
Veteran actor Saurabh Shukla, with a strong performance in films like Jolly LLB and Barfi!, has also joined the cast and is already filming in Mumbai with SRK and Suhana. His addition adds another layer of experienced weight to a film already made heavy by the presence of star power.
The completed cast includes Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, Jackie Shroff, Jaideep Ahlawat, Arshad Warsi, Abhay Verma, and many others, creating a pan-generational cinematic experience under one title.
High-Octane Action Meets Father-Daughter Drama
King is expected to feature SRK in an unshorn avatar, and we expect the action to be coordinated by elite stunt directors from around the world. After we put down plots, it is still unclear, but early whispers suggest this film will explore father-daughter dynamics alongside a thrilling plot that also explores aspects of espionage — a first-of-its-kind combo for Indian screens.
With Suhana Khan set to make her feature film debut alongside her father and Deepika Padukone returning as SRK’s trusted co-star after Pathaan and Chennai Express, King holds the weight of expectation and significance for generations.
