Nitesh Tiwari‘s adaptation of the Ramayana is turning into a massive film project. With Ranbir Kapoor set to play the lead role of Lord Ram, the film is shaping up to be a visual extravaganza. The ambitious project is well underway at Film City, where 12 lavish sets are under construction.
These elaborate sets are designed to bring the ancient cities of Ayodhya and Mithila to life, showcasing the film’s 3D format. According to Mid-Day, the goal is to finish building these sets by mid-August and start filming in the same month.
Ramayana Shoot To Resume In Late August
The film boasts a stellar cast. Sai Pallavi will star as Sita, bringing a fresh and vibrant portrayal of the character. Arun Govil, renowned for his iconic role as Ram in the classic TV series Ramayan, will play King Dasharath. Yash is set to make a strong impression as Ravana, a role expected to define his career.
While the focus initially is on depicting Ram’s younger years, the production is preparing to advance to the next stage. Filming will resume with the principal cast in late August. A notable twist in this epic project is that it will be released in two parts.
Makers To Announce Release Date After 1st Part Wraps Up
Unlike the usual practice of waiting for the success of the first part before greenlighting a sequel, the makers are planning to shoot a significant portion of the second part alongside the first.
The entire production is set to span 350 days, covering both solo and group scenes. The plan is to complete the principal photography for both parts by December 2025.
This schedule will allow ample time for post-production work, which will be managed by the acclaimed visual effects studio DNEG. Although the exact release date is yet to be announced, it is expected to be revealed once the first part of filming wraps up.
