The buzz around Kalki 2898 AD is being overshadowed by legal drama. The sci-fi film, which stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Amitabh Bachchan, is now facing a legal notice from Acharya Pramod Krishnan.
Krishnan, a well-known Hindu activist, claims that the film is “blatantly disrespectful to Hindu scriptures” and has hurt Hindu sentiments.
Krishnan Claims Kalki 2898 AD Misrepresents Indian Mythology
In his complaint, published by ANI, Krishnan alleges that the movie’s depiction of Indian mythology is inaccurate and damaging. He argues that the film’s content misrepresents sacred texts and could mislead devout Hindus.
“India is a land of emotions, faith, and devotion. The values of Sanatana Dharma should not be tampered with,” Krishnan said.
He emphasised that Lord Kalki, considered the final incarnation of Lord Vishnu, is central to Hindu faith.
“Much is written about the incarnation of Kalki in the Puranas, and based on this, PM Modi laid the foundation stone of Shri Kalki Dham on February 19,” he added.
Saints Are Portrayed As Demons, Says Krishnan
Krishnan further criticised the film for diverging from traditional scripts. “This film goes against what is described in our scriptures. This film is hurting our religious sentiments. Therefore, we have noted some objections and are waiting for a response,” he said.
He also condemned the portrayal of saints as demons, stressing that freedom of expression should not come at the cost of religious beliefs.
“Playing with the sentiments of Hindus has become a pastime for filmmakers. Saints are portrayed as demons. Freedom of expression does not mean that you can play with our faith,” he added.
