Salman Khan’s Chulbul Pandey Won’t Enter Singham’s Cop Universe; Rohit Shetty Says ‘There’ll Be A Standalone Film BUT…’

Salman Khan as Chulbul Pandey will not join Singham's cop universe. Rohit Shetty confirms a standalone film instead, but says that it will take a lot of time.

Rohit Shetty has clarified that Salman Khan’s iconic character, Chulbul Pandey, will not be joining the Singham cop universe anytime soon. In an interview, Shetty explained how the two characters, Chulbul Pandey and Bajirao Singham, come from different worlds and will remain in their separate universes.

While fans have been eagerly waiting for a crossover film, Shetty revealed that the collaboration will be something fresh and unique.

Salman Khan & Ajay Devgn Will Have A Standalone Film

Speaking to India Today, Rohit said, “We were creating our own characters, and they were coming into each other’s stories. That’s how we created a universe.”

However, he clarified that Chulbul and Singham’s worlds have never collided before. He continued, “These are two IPs (intellectual properties) that have never met. If all goes well, and the audience likes what we make, it’ll be something new for everyone. Also, Chulbul is not in the universe, nor is Singham going there. It will be two IPs and two universes meeting for one individual film.”

This revelation comes as a surprise to many who expected a more integrated storyline, but Shetty made it clear that the characters would remain distinct.

The film that is being planned will not feature a large ensemble cast from the cop universe. Instead, it will be a standalone movie, featuring Chulbul and Singham in their own separate contexts. Shetty added, “It will definitely take a lot of time to make.”

For now, fans can expect a fresh storyline and a unique cinematic experience when the two legendary cops finally meet on screen. However, the wait might be longer than expected, as Shetty mentioned it would take time for the film to go on floors.

Why Salman Didn’t Have A Brief Cameo In Singham Again?

Recently, Salman Khan made a brief appearance in the post-credits scene of Singham Again. His cameo, which featured him delivering his famous line, “Swagat nahi karoge humara?” (Won’t you welcome us?), left fans eagerly anticipating a bigger role for him in the universe.

However, it was a blink-and-miss moment, which disappointed many who were hoping for a more substantial appearance.

Shetty addressed this creative decision, explaining that they followed an international format where small teases are used to build anticipation.

He shared, “We couldn’t waste him like that. It’s better to have him in a small appearance rather than a full-fledged sequence, where people think, ‘Why him, zarurat nahi thi’ (it wasn’t needed)? That would have gone majorly wrong.”

Rohit Shetty also mentioned that the idea of a crossover film had been brewing in his mind for years. When he finally pitched the idea to Salman Khan, the actor was immediately on board.
