Aamir Khan’s 60th birthday celebrations by PVR INOX faced issues as screenings of Dil Chahta Hai and 3 Idiots were cancelled at the Aamir Khan Film Festival. The festival featured 22 of his most iconic films and was meant to be a treat for fans. However, the absence of some of his hits left many disappointed.
Dil Chahta Hai Shows Cancelled At Aamir Khan Film Festival
The event showcased films like Dangal, Lagaan, PK, Rang De Basanti, and Taare Zameen Par. But Dil Chahta Hai, a cult classic known for its humour and music, barely made it to the big screen.
Fans who booked tickets in advance felt let down when most screenings were abruptly pulled. Some managed to catch a few shows on Sunday afternoon, but that was it. Many had to settle for refunds or switch to other Aamir Khan films.

The KDM (Key Delivery Message) wasn’t issued in time. A few shows finally ran on Sunday post-noon, but the demand was much higher. Cinemas had to issue refunds to disappointed fans. Since barely any screenings took place, there were no viral social media videos of fans dancing to Koi Kahe Kehta Rahe or Woh Ladki Hai Kahaan. The source added, “This was a huge letdown. We saw similar moments with Balam Pichkari (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani) and Mahi Ve (Kal Ho Naa Ho). Fans were ready for the same nostalgia, but there were hardly any shows.”
3 Idiots Also Faced A Similar Issue
Additionally, 3 Idiots was also quietly removed from the schedule. Meanwhile, films with lower demand, like Talaash and Dil, had multiple screenings across the country. Industry insiders felt the festival’s planning could have been better.
An industry insider said, “Not just Dil Chahta Hai but even the other cult film, 3 Idiots, is no longer playing anywhere. On the other hand, films that are not as exciting as these two are playing with multiple shows like Dil, Talaash etc. The organisers should have planned this in a better manner and ensured that films with high demand have daily shows”
Another cult favourite, Andaz Apna Apna, also had limited screenings. However, fans aren’t as upset since it’s set for a proper re-release in April. Priti Sinha, daughter of the film’s producer Vinay Sinha, confirmed the upcoming theatrical run.
The Aamir Khan Film Festival runs until March 27. Fans are still hoping that Dil Chahta Hai and 3 Idiots will return to the big screen before it ends.
