Shah Rukh Khan’s early days in Mumbai were quite simple. Actress Manisha Koirala recently spoke about those times and their friendship.
In an interview, Manisha remembered visiting Shah Rukh’s Mount Mary flat. She shared that his apartment had mats on the floor where they would all sit and hang out as young friends.
The actress said, ” I remember going to his Mount Mary apartment and there used to be chattais in his flat. We used to all sit on the chattais (mat) and we all were buddies and very young.”
Shah Rukh Khan Gave THIS Advise To Manisha Koirala
Manisha told Pinkvilla that Shah Rukh advised her to buy a house in Mumbai. He told her that since they both came from outside the city, owning a home would help them feel more settled.
The actress further added, “Though I came one or two years earlier to him to Bombay, we bonded a lot. It was he who advised me to buy a house in Bombay. He said – You know, Manisha, we both have come from outside Bombay and to belong to Bombay, we need to have a place. Apnapan aa jayega usmein.”
While Shah Rukh gave Manisha this advice, he bought the popular Mannat mansion for his wife, Gauri Khan.
In a past radio interview, Shah Rukh mentioned that his mother-in-law, Savita Chhibber, thought his first flat in Mumbai was too small.
He shared, “When I came to Mumbai, I lived in a small apartment with my wife Gauri. My mother-in-law used to say to me – How do you live in such a small house?”
Coming from Delhi, where people prefer bigger houses, he wanted a larger space. This led him to buy Mannat, which reminded him of homes in Delhi.
SRK’s Mannat To Undergo A 2-Floor Extension
Mannat is now valued at around Rs 200 crore & might soon be expanded. Reports suggest that Gauri Khan has applied for permission to add two extra floors to the six-storey building in the Mannat complex.
If approved, the project could cost about Rs 225 crore as per estimations.
