Fans were curious about who would be in the cast when Ajay Devgn announced Son Of Sardaar 2. It has been almost 12 years since the original film’s release, and speculation was rife about whether Sanjay Dutt and Sonakshi Sinha would return. Early reports suggested that neither actor would feature in the sequel.
However, mid-day has now revealed that Sanjay Dutt has been signed on for Vijay Kumar Arora’s directorial venture.
Sanjay Dutt & Ajay Devgn To Share An Intense Rivalry In Son Of Sardaar 2
The big question is, will Dutt play his role as Balwinder Singh Sandhu (Billu) opposite Devgn’s Jassi once again? The answer is both yes and no.
The sequel presents a fresh storyline, distinct from where the original left off. A source explained, “Since the characters of Billu and Jassi were loved by the audiences, the two actors are expected to stick to their characters’ names. Their dynamics, however, will be different.”
The source added, ”While the two were at loggerheads with hilarious results in Son of Sardaar, this time, their rivalry will be intense, with Sanjay’s role leaning towards the antagonist. Off-screen, the two actors are close friends, and Ajay has made sure that Sanjay has a fantastic role in the second part.”
Film’s Shoot Expected To Begin By July-End
Vijay Kumar Arora, known for his success in Punjabi cinema and his work as director of photography on Devgn’s Action Jackson (2014), is set to start filming the action comedy at the end of July. Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, and Mrunal Thakur, who has been cast as the female lead, will begin a 50-day schedule in Scotland.
The country is renowned for its castles, historic towns, lochs, and beaches, with many scenes from Game of Thrones and the Harry Potter franchise having been filmed there. The direction team conducted a location scout earlier this year, selecting picturesque sites such as Glencoe, Glenfinnan, Culross Palace, Doune Castle, Preston Mill, and Falkland Palace.
These locations will provide a fitting backdrop for the action and drama envisioned by the director. Additionally, a few romantic songs featuring Ajay and Mrunal will be shot amidst Scotland’s scenic beauty.
Ajay Devgn is set to wrap up filming Singham Again with Rohit Shetty next week. Following that, he will devote his full attention to Son of Sardaar 2. Once the Scotland schedule is completed, he will proceed to London to start filming De De Pyaar De 2.
