The weekend witnessed a lot of jubilation in the business and trade circles as Munjya exceeded all expectations, making a collection of Rs 20 crores in just three days since its release.
The film is a horror-comedy belonging to the intriguing Maddock Supernatural Universe, a universe that started with Stree (2018) and was followed by Bhediya (2022).
The success of Munjya has indeed heightened the anticipation around Stree 2, as the film was already generating significant buzz in the trade before its release. If everything goes as planned, the much-awaited teaser of the sequel could arrive in theatres sooner than expected.
According to reports, on June 7, when Munjya was released in theatres, the CBFC approved two teasers of Stree 2. The duration of the first teaser is 1 minute and 23 seconds, and the second is 1 minute and 6 seconds. Both have been granted U/A certificates.
Sources suggest that one of these teasers is scheduled to arrive digitally later this month. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The teaser is coming out in June itself, that too this week, although the film is almost 2 ½ months away. This promo of Stree 2 will give an idea of what one can expect from the film this time.”
The latest report suggests that first teaser will be launched in theatres on June 14.
About Maddock’s Horror Comedy Universe
While Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree started the Maddock Supernatural Universe, the horror-comedy film had a great opening, collecting Rs 129.90 crores at the domestic box office. On the other hand, Bhediya starred Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon.
Munjya featured Sharvari and Abhay Verma, and the interesting aspect about this casting universe is that, apart from Sharvari and Abhay Verma, Varun Dhawan was seen in an exciting cameo in Munjya, while Rajkummar Rao had a special appearance in Bhediya.
Stree 2 reunites Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor with Pankaj Tripathi and Abhishek Banerjee. Directed by Amar Kaushik, it is scheduled to hit cinemas on August 30.
