Maddock Films’ latest horror comedy Munjya has finally hit theatres across the world today, bringing with it potential universe-building and spooky laughs to millions of viewers.
The film’s unique concept, including a catchy song “Taras,” and being part of the horror-comedy genre that is a fan favourite, did drive up the buzz before its release. But there was another question bothering everyone: will Munjya connect to the popular Maddock Supernatural Universe, which already has hits like Stree (2018) and Bhediya (2022) to its name?
Munjya Has Varun Dhawan’s Bhediya Cameo To Surprise The Viewers
Well, Munjya drops a big bomb for the fans. According to the latest information available, viewers witness a surprise cameo by none other than the original lead from Bhediya, Varun Dhawan.
This is not some little fun Easter egg, apparently, but seems to be a significant scene in terms of shaping the Maddock Supernatural Universe in the future. Whispers are afoot that it might even be a hint of a plot point to come in the next Bhediya film, and fans are on tenterhooks to see what more unfolds!
The Maddock Supernatural Universe was set up on a high note with Stree (2018), a film starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao. It turned out to be a big hit in 2018 and paved the way for further ventures into the spooky. Roohi with Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao came in 2021, and then Bhediya, a werewolf movie with Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon.
The excitement doesn’t stop with Munjya! Stree 2 is already generating major buzz before its release on 30 August. Meanwhile, Bhediya 2 was officially launched last year and is expected to hit theatres in 2025.
About The Film
This latest film Munjya stars Sharvari and Abhay Verma, with Aditya Sarpotdar directing. Produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, the story revolves around a mischievous spirit that is trapped inside a tree in a sleepy coastal village.
Things go haywire when the spirit gets stuck to an awkward Pune boy and lands in hilarious chaos for reasons unknown. Watch Munjya in theatres near you!
