Both Sunny Leone and Ameesha Patel are two of the popular actresses in Bollywood. Starting out at different times, they have made a name for themselves in the industry. However, lately, both of them are in the news for different reasons that have something to do with non-payment issues that performers have been facing in the industry since the beginning.
Both Sunny and Ameesha are facing the non-payment of dues of 21 lakhs and Rs. 1.2 crore respectively from producers. On 25 July, the two were summoned by the Arbitration Tribunal of the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA). This was in response to the producer’s complaint over non-payment of dues. Now that the actresses did not appear before them, the body will be taking strict action against them.
Who Are The Producers?
Vinod Bachchan of M/s Soundarya Productions and Haresh Patel of M/s AD Films had filed complaints against Sunny Leone and Ameesha Patel. The IMPPA has instructed them to pay the entire amount payable to the two producers within a week of the meeting failing which there will be consequences. Now that the actresses haven’t done that, it will be interesting to see how the entire thing will unfold.
Sunny And Ameesha’s Upcoming Projects
Ameesha is reprising her role as Sakeena in Gadar 2. The film is a sequel to the highly successful 2001 period drama action film Gadar. The sequel is directed by Anil Sharma and also stars Sunny Deol and Utkarsh Sharma. Yesterday, its trailer was released on the internet where it was well received. Gadar 2 is scheduled to be released on 11 August, clashing with Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 at the box office.
Sunny, on the other hand, will be seen in Anurag Kashyap’s noir thriller Kennedy. Co-starring Rahul Bhat, the film had its world premiere at this year’s Cannes film festival where it was well received. Currently, it is doing the festival rounds after which it will release in India by the end of this year. She is also making her Malayalam debut with Rangeela and is currently filming several other projects in South India.
