Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna are set to deliver a chilling twist on romance in Thama, a new horror-comedy announced by Dinesh Vijan. Set to hit cinemas on Diwali 2025, Thama promises to blend horror, humour, and romance in a unique love story with a “bloody” twist.
The announcement video shared by the makers and the actors teases this edgy storyline. We also hear the track ‘Rahein Na Rahein Hum’ in the video and the song is expected to feature in the film.

Announcing the film on social media, Ayushmann, Rashmika, and the production team posted, “Dinesh Vijan’s Horror Comedy Universe needed a love story… unfortunately, it’s a bloody one. 💘 Brace yourselves for Thama – Diwali 2025!”

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and scripted by Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew, and Arun Fulara, the film also stars Paresh Rawal and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
Initially named Vampire of Vijay Nagar, the title change to Thama was recently confirmed by Stree 2 director Amar Kaushik. Produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik under Maddock Films, the film marks a unique entry into Vijan’s Horror Comedy Universe.
Known for its successful horror comedies, Maddock aims to continue the streak with this daring love story, with Rahein Na Rahein Hum adding a haunting, romantic depth to the film’s atmosphere.
A source close to the project shared that Thama also marks the second collaboration between Aditya Sarpotdar and Vijan after the success of Munjya.
As for the lead pair, this is the first time Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna will share the screen, each bringing their unique talent to the project. “Both actors have very unique arcs in the film, which will take audiences by surprise,” the source added, hinting at unconventional roles for both stars.
While Ayushmann is currently wrapping up an untitled spy thriller with Karan Johar, Rashmika is working on Pushpa 2 alongside Allu Arjun.
