Kareena Kapoor Khan is set to dazzle audiences in a new murder mystery, The Buckingham Murders. Today, the makers announced the film’s release date along with some intriguing posters. The film is slated to hit theatres on 13th September.
Originally, the Sara Ali Khan and Aditya Roy Kapur starrer Metro In Dino was set for this date but has now been rescheduled to November 29, 2024.
Kareena Kapoor And Makers Confirm The Buckingham Murders Release Date With New Posters
Balaji Motion Pictures took to Instagram to share two new posters featuring Kareena in a completely different look. In one poster, policemen are seen restraining her as she tries to run.
The caption read, “We’re thrilled to announce that The Buckingham Murders is coming to theatres on 13th September 2024. Directed by @hansalmehta and starring @kareenakapoorkhan.” Fans were quick to react, with one commenting, “Finally,” and another expressing, “Excited to watch this as eagerly waiting.”
The Buckingham Murders, directed by Hansal Mehta, has already received praise following its global premiere at the BFI London Film Festival 2023. It was also showcased at the 2023 Mumbai Film Festival held at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in October.
Sara Ali Khan’s Metro In Dino Shifts To November
Meanwhile, Metro In Dino has shifted its release to 29th November 2024. On 19th April, Aditya Roy Kapur shared a poster and the new release date on social media. His caption read, “Get ready for a journey through urban romance like never before! #Metro… इन दिनों in cinemas on 29th November 2024.”
Directed by Anurag Basu, this anthology film features an ensemble cast including Sara Ali Khan, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Pankaj Tripathi, and Konkona Sen Sharma.
Kareena Called The Buckingham Murders ‘A Career-Defining Role’ For Her
During Netflix’s The Actors’ Roundtable 2023, Kareena Kapoor shared some insights into her role in The Buckingham Murders. She revealed that she plays a grieving mother whose child is tragically shot in the opening scene. This event propels her character into becoming a detective. Fleeing her hometown, she finds herself in a new place, grappling with a complex case.
Kareena shared, “I think I loved playing that part because this is the first time I am playing a detective, and I am a huge crime drama fan.” While she admitted that the character’s deep grief was challenging to portray, it also brought her immense satisfaction. She added, “It’s a career-defining role for me and one of my best characters.”
Kareena also mentioned that she requested the director to extend the story into a four-part series because she didn’t want to let go of the character.
