Karan Johar recently found himself in the spotlight over rumours about investing in the food delivery service Swiggy.
However, he has officially put those speculations to rest. In a statement released by Dharma Productions, Karan firmly declared these reports to be false.
Karan Johar Issues Official Statement Amid Fake Reports Of His Investment In Swiggy
The statement read, “Certain sections of the media are falsely reporting that Mr Karan Johar has invested in Swiggy, the online food delivery service. These reports are untrue. Mr. Johar has not invested in Swiggy.”
This clarification comes amidst buzz suggesting other Bollywood stars, like Madhuri Dixit and Amitabh Bachchan, may have made similar investments. As of now, these claims remain unofficial.
While Karan Johar is clearing up this misinformation, Swiggy is gearing up for an impressive IPO to raise $1.4 billion (around Rs 11,664 crore).
Originally, the company aimed to raise Rs 3,750 crore (about $450 million) through a new share issue. However, reports indicate that the planned issue size has now increased to Rs 5,000 crore (around $600 million), showing the company’s ambition to bolster its financial position in a highly competitive market.
Filmmaker To Soon Make His Debut On OTT
Karan Johar is making strides in the digital space. He is set to follow in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s footsteps by directing a big-budget web series for Netflix. This will mark Karan’s directorial debut on OTT platforms.
His impressive track record includes iconic films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Fans are eager to see how he adapts his storytelling for a digital audience.
Reports indicate that Karan’s upcoming project will be a female-led series, with the script already locked. After collaborating with Sanjay Leela Bhansali on the much-anticipated Heera Mandi, this new series is expected to be a significant addition to Netflix’s offerings. The vision is to begin production in the first quarter of 2025, further solidifying Karan’s presence in the OTT space.
Meanwhile, Karan is also busy promoting Jigra, a project he co-produced with Alia Bhatt. The duo is actively involved in the film’s marketing campaign as they build excitement for its release.
